What are Havening Therapy?
Havening Techniques® is an innovative, psycho sensory therapy rooted in neuroscience, designed to rapidly reduce the emotional charge of traumatic memories, distressing experiences, and chronic anxiety.
Developed by neuroscientists and doctors, Havening works by altering brain chemistry through gentle, soothing touch applied to the arms, face, and hands.
This process generates delta waves in the brain, sending signals of safety directly to the amygdala—the brain’s emotional alarm system.
For those living with anxiety, depression, or past trauma, Havening provides a gentle, non invasive way to "depower" negative emotional triggers without requiring you to repeatedly relive painful past events.
How Havening Therapy Work
Havening combines electro sensory stimulation with specialised cognitive distraction techniques to rewire how your brain stores emotional pain.
-
Trauma & Trigger Identification: We identify the specific distress, anxious memory or physical sensation you wish to clear, without needing to go into traumatic detail.
-
Havening Touch: Gentle, comfortable touch is applied to the shoulders/arms, palms, or face (either directly by the practitioner or guided as Self-Havening).
-
Delta Wave Generation: The sensory input stimulates the brain to produce high amplitude delta waves, which lower chemical stress markers and promote deep physical relaxation.
-
Amygdala Depotentiation: The combination of delta waves and cognitive distractions (such as counting or visualisation) removes the emotional receptors attached to traumatic memories, permanently detaching the panic response from the memory.
-
Resilience & Positive Anchoring: Once the distress is neutralised, we install positive psychological states, building long term emotional resilience and confidence.
